How are electronic locks powered?
Electronic locks are powered in one of two ways, depending on the lock itself: they are either battery powered, or they operate on an electrical current.
How do I get into my home if my electronic lock battery dies?
Most electronic locks come with a ‘low battery’ indicator. However, if your lock has completely lost power, you can replace the battery yourself! In most electronic locks, the battery is housed behind the front panel, and removing this panel using a screwdriver will give you access to this part of the lock. From there, replace the battery with the proper size and voltage, and you’re good to go!
My home lost power and my electronic lock isn’t working. What do I do?
When the power goes out, the only functionality your lock will lose is being able to be controlled remotely. This means you can still use your key to lock and unlock the door, and if your lock is battery powered, the keypad would still function.
