When you move into a new home in Sarasota, a lot of people may have a copy of the key to your house.
Contractors, builders, workers, neighbors, and previous homeowners may have a key to your home. That’s why we suggest that new homeowners should always invest in new locks, new keys, or rekeying services by a professional, local Sarasota locksmith.
There are a lot of different services we provide to homeowners in case they need help with the locks on their home. If your locks are old or broken, we can replace or repair them! If you ever get locked out of your home, we can come to your house and get you back inside!
When dealing with the locks on your home, you must be vigilant to avoid locksmith scammers. They will likely give you incorrect prices, and then drill a hole in your door to break the lock. They use this drill because they are not trained to pick it correctly. This not only leaves you out of pocket $150 or more but also without a working lock. When you hire a locksmith, it’s important you trust Pop-A-Lock, the best locksmiths in the country to take care of the job.
Everyone locks their house before they go to work or go to sleep.
It often becomes so routine we hardly think about the locks until there is an issue. That said, they are an incredibly important part of what makes a home secure. At Pop-A-Lock of Sarasota, we recognize that importance, and you will see that firsthand when we work for you!

Pop-A-Lock of Sarasota has a VERY good track record of opening a door without any damage. However, in rare cases where a lock cannot be picked, then we would have to drill the lock cylinder to gain entry. If we drill the cylinder to open the door, then we can either replace the cylinder or replace the lock itself, on the spot, so that you have proper security for your home.
In our core Sarasota area, we charge an $85 service call. In addition to that, a standard rekey is $35 per lock cylinder if you currently have a working key for that lock. Some people refer to a rekey as “change the locks” when in fact we are not installing a new lock rather we are making a new, different key for your existing lock.

Yes, we accept cards, tap-to-pay, and cash and we do not add any fees either. We generally do not give a cash discount either. We have one price regardless of payment method. Personally, I hate it when businesses charge me a 3% credit card fee or convenience fee. We do NOT do that.

Yes, we can. Most homeowners have locks with the same keyway (either Kwikset or Schlage). If you have the same keyway, then we can rekey all of the locks so that one key operates all locks in your house. The way to find out if you have the same keyway is to insert your existing key into the lock. If the key fits, then it’s the same keyway. If your home locks are not on the same keyway, then we can replace some of those locks with the correct keyway so that 1 key operates all locks.

We highly recommend rekeying the lock if any of these events happened to you. Call us to schedule an appointment to rekey your locks (make a new key so that the old key does not work anymore. Yes, we install deadbolts all the time, including “fresh installations” where we drill the holes in the door and door jamb and then install the deadbolt. Regarding “high-security” locks, they are not very common in residential applications but if a homeowner wants high-security, then we can discuss those needs over the phone. High Security locks are EXTREMELY expensive and typically only used in high security commercial applications such as banks and government installations. High Security locks generally refer to locks that have a “restricted keyway,” meaning the key is ONLY for you and nobody else. That is why they are so expensive and extremely rare for residential use.
Pop-A-Lock of Sarasota carries residential knobs and deadbolts in our vans. Finish options include satin nickel (nickel silver), polished brass (gold-type color) and antique brass. For electronic key pad locks or smart locks like biometric, wifi and blue tooth enabled locks, we recommend the customer go to Lowes or Home Depot or Amazon to purchase those based on your needs, budget, and finish. We do not stock electronic locks because there is such a huge selection at Lowes or Home Depot (almost an entire aisle full!).
Yes, we install smart locks all the time. We can either replace your existing deadbolt, or add a new smart lock if you do not have any deadbolts on the door (ie fresh installation).
If the damage occurred to the lock, yes. If the damage is to the door or the door jamb instead of the lock, then no. If the damage is to the door or door frame, contact a door supplier and installer.
No, we only deal with locks and keys. Contact a window and door specialist.

We can open small safes that have a key-hole (the safe takes a key to open it). We can either pick it or drill the cylinder to open it. We do not open dialed or electronic safes. Regarding mailbox locks, we open and replace those all the time – very common. We do open overhead garage doors on occasion but only if there is a keyed lock on the outside.
