The History of Pop-A-Lock® Metairie

In 1993, Pop-A-Lock New Orleans opened as a “Car Door Unlocking Company”. By 1998, we had become a critical component of the New Orleans area emergency response system, providing emergency door unlocking services for over 30 vehicles per month. Over time, our services expanded to Roadside services including jump-starts, tire changes, and fuel deliveries for drivers stuck on the side of the road.

In response to an influx of customer requests, Pop-A-Lock began offering a full range of automotive, residential, and commercial locksmith services in Metairie and the greater New Orleans Metro area. Despite the hardships that Hurricane Katrina brought in August of 2005, Pop-A-Lock New Orleans continues to be one of the most successful franchises in the Pop-A-Lock system.

The Pop-A-Lock business was born in 1991 when local law enforcement agents in Lafayette, Louisiana noticed the need for a trusted car locksmith in their community. Since then, Pop-A-Lock has become the largest professional locksmithing franchise company in the United States. Our original Lafayette location is now the corporate headquarters and national training facility for Pop-A-Lock.
