What kind of lock will be best for my business?
Every business is different, and there are many factors that can influence which lock will work best for your organization:
- How many employees you oversee
- If you have frequent visitors (such as clients or vendors)
- The location of your business
- What you are protecting within the building or office space
- Your organization’s budget
- Any other security measures that have been put into place
Pop-A-Lock’s certified locksmiths have the knowledge and expertise to assess your unique situation and advise you on what lock is best for your business.
When would I need commercial lock rekeying versus lock replacement?
The biggest factors in determining whether your business would need lock rekeying versus replacement are 1) the working status of your locks and 2) whether you would like a master key system. If the locks themselves are in good condition and the problem lies within the pin mechanism, rekeying is the solution for you. However, if your company is transitioning into a master key system, the locks can be rekeyed only if they are all the same brand.
My business locks are not operating as smoothly as they used to. Should I replace them?
Problems with lock operation can be caused by one of two things: the lock itself or the door frame alignment. To troubleshoot, try to operate the lock with the door open. If the lock works smoothly with the door open, your issue lies in the alignment of the door and frame. If the problem persists, it can be useful to consider calling your local Pop-A-Lock and having one of our locksmiths replace the lock, since they wear down with time.
I lost the key to my business. Should I rekey or reinstall?
Finding yourself in a situation like this can be stressful, but Pop-A-Lock is here to help. If the key that was stolen or lost is one of several in your possession, the go-to method would be rekeying. However, if the key in question was the only one that you had, it is imperative that you change your locks completely. This is because rekeying without the original key is impossible.
