Job Description

A professionally trained locksmith works to install, maintain, repair and replace hardware associated with locks in residential, auto, and commercial settings.  It is a mobile job that requires working in different environments with your hands in a precise way. Duties

    • Install locks, deadbolts, and other locking devices
    • Modify/repair locks, deadbolts, and other locking devices
    • Generate new keys/make duplicate keys
    • Respond to emergency calls to open locked vehicles, homes and businesses
    • Carry out work in both residential and commercial environments

Qualifications

    • Good vision, spatial perception, hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity
    • Basic math skills
    • Basic knowledge of electricity and electronics
    • The ability to learn and understand locks, alarms, access control systems, etc.
    • The ability to work with others and without supervision
    • The ability to work outside
    • The ability to follow directions
    • The ability to work nights and weekends
    • The ability to pass a state background check
    • Clean driving record
    • Patience, emotional stability, honesty, dependability, accuracy, punctuality

Experience

    • No experience necessary
    • On-the-job training
    • Learning time ranges from three months to four years
